I’ve been through hell and back with Meta and here are my thoughts.
For me, there’s a major inner conflict..
Do I agree with META, trust them, their business tactics, or their platforms? Heck no. Do I desperately need these apps, want them to love me, and need to please them? absolutely yes!! All of my subs come from IG and it’s important to keep the momentum going but when you’re constantly being restricted for things that make no sense, leaving you walking on egg shells trying to please a system that is managing a creative, dynamic, space, but doesn’t understand context….That system just won’t fly. And that just doesn’t sit well and it makes me think about the collective and how things used to be before META.
I grew up being told to treat everyone the same, that we should all get treated equally and in the 90s this was super important as more and more women started working, and different cultures started arriving and it became engraved in my head. To treat people equal. That’s just not the case anymore. Now I find myself being verbally attacked, not about the quality of my video or how entertaining it is, but I’m being hated on for my appearance…the way I was born… things I can’t change without cosmetic surgery. That’s bullying, yes, but it’s also discrimination and not to be dramatic but… it’s inhumane. I get reported by haters everyday and I’m always restricted… I’m restricted for living in Canada for Pete’s sakes!! I get restricted for gang violence, fraud, scamming, the clothes I wear, (I have smaller boobs then most men I know so???) for being too skinny, for mentioning OF, for using harmless, innocent hashtags, you name it! All by salty haters of course.
So you’re telling me, I get to create content for your platform, that you’re going to financially gain from, then I get to be scammed on your platform that I assumed was a safe place that would screen the ads. Not welcome in criminals to use the platform as a home base, turning your head collecting 8 billion dirty dollars last year in ad sales alone that they knew were scams. and robbed of every last cent I have, and then I get to get bullied, and verbally abused on my creative work, with no one having my back, in fact, not only do they not have my back, they end up joining in and restricting me leaving me hidden from the experience with no answers or closure and then after I go through hell and back and my acct goes up and down a hundred times I’m going to wake up one morning and it’ll be removed from the platform for ever…My entire work portfolio that took me years to grow… you’re just gonna, delete it… without any reason and any way to contact anyone… cool.
Oh you wanna know if I want to run an ad campaign? That’s cute.
The FB support team wasted so much of my time, I cried and cried, and stressed over possible identity theft as there was a random name in my Facebook payouts, this person made themselves admin of my page and could see all of my personal info. 5 months of trying to resolve this, 5 months too long. If there was a human being on the other end this would have been a very serious urgent matter but METAs support did nothing but troll me for 5 months. They gaslit me, lied to me, led me on, and they never did resolve this issue. I documented the whole thing because it was actually insane how fuckey it was. The support team will not support or help you they (or it) will only make things much worse!!
I understand that not everyone is going to like me but I don’t think reporting is the way to go abouts that. It’s only a matter of time before my acct gets taken down because when you’re in this industry, its inevitable, sadly, which is why I’m here to support a good friend who created sxgram to give adult creators a place to actually express themselves without being hidden away from the social experience.
It feels awful to be treated so badly and like you’re not welcome, when you’re just being you, sadly that’s a lot of creators reality and it’s hard to sustain.
I’m not too sure what exactly to post here but I thought this would be a good start just for context. The content should lighten up after this one. Haha.
Much love!
